CLUFF - PINKERTON
A very pretty wedding took place on January 15th at Hillhurst, the home of
Mrs. Jos. Pinkerton, when her youngest daughter, Olive Myrtle was Married
to Mr. Reginald Cluff, of Swift Current. The bride was given away by her
brother, Matthew and looked charming in a gown of blue shot silk, carrying
a large bouquet of roses and Lillies of the Valley. She also wore the
bridegroom's gift , a beautiful necklace and plaque pendant of pearls. The
ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Johnson of Killarney, and Miss Ella
Tweed played the Wedding March. The bridegroom's gift to the organist was
a very pretty pearl brooch.

After the ceremony about twenty guests sat down to the wedding breakfast.
The young couple received many handsome presents, among them a substantial
cheque. In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Cluff left for California where they
will spend two or three months. Mrs. Cluff travelled in a pretty navy blue
suit with mink furs. 1913.

WRITE-UP ON FAMILY - writer unknown - not dated. ( Probably written by one
of the children of Rex Cluff and Myrtle Pinkerton). (from email from L.Leggott Jan 15, 1998)
1. JOHN REGINALD CLUFF (the son of David and Margaret Cluff) was born at
Pilot Mound, Manitoba, then moved with his family to near Killarney,
Manitoba where he met and married Myrtle Pinkerton in January 1913. After
a lengthy honeymoon to the South, they came to their homestead south half
of Sec. 24-21-15 in early April. Rex as he was known had been up
previously to build. When they reached Saskatchewan Landing the river
there was breaking up, ice coming in large floes so crossing in the basket
was the mode of getting over (quite and experience).
PIJ1268 - 4
It was a Local Improvement District and we got our mail at Sask. Landing
crossing on the ferry, then later we got our mail at Kylevill, then they
moved the office to Gunderson. Then the C.P.R. built a line down calling
the end of the line - Matador, where we got the mail for years.
Rex died in 1935 leaving a family of six, four boys and two girls.
We still stayed on the farm but when war broke out in 1939 our family was
broken up, two enlisting and went overseas. After they returned we all
went our separate ways - Louise, the eldest of the family had already went
out to B. C. She married and is living in Hope. Clarence took up
electricty but returned to farm at Coaldale, Alberta. Douglas went to
Ormiston where he worked for a time, then moved into Regina where he
obtained work with the C.P.R. and is still working in the Union Station.
He married and had two sons who have families now. Andrew went through for
a town clerk and was Town Administrater at Regina Beach before going on to
Maple Creek. He has just retired from the work and having a holiday. He
never married. Laura, who taught school for a time then went on as a
Librarian in Saskatoon. Leslie went through for a teacher and is still
teaching at Medicine Hat where he lives with his two sons, his wife having
died in 1972.
