"Following a lingering illness, William Wesley Brooks, passed away on Friday, December 29th 1944.
      Born in Peel County, May 13th 1877, he was the son of the late John Henry and Sarah Brooks. His boyhood was spent in Lewisham,, Ryde Township, and he was in his teens when he came to Bracebridge, which has been his home every since.
      On January 5, 1896 he married Miss Margaret Elizabeth Harper, who passed away in April, 1925. Five daughters and three sons born to this union all survive. They are Audrey (Mrs. J. Olimer), Iola, (Mrs. W. Finch), Velma (Mrs. R. White), Hazel (Mrs. A. Bennett) and Tom, all of Bracebridge; and Genevive (Mrs. H. McFadden) of Hamilton; Stanley of Windsor and Jack, with the Royal Canadian Engineers in British Columbia.
      On Feb 9 1927, Mr. Brooks married Mrs. Annie Bailey, who now survives along with their son Ian. There are also two stepdaughters, Margaret (Mrs. Charles Gibson) of Bracebridge, and Olive (Mrs. Donald McCann) of Toronto.
      Two sisters, Leila (Mrs. Garnet Hoover) of Orillia and Olive (Mrs. Graydon Snyder) of Kingston, and two brothers, Bert, East Bay Manitoba, and Rolland, of Niagara Falls, also survive to mourn his loss.
      The funeral service took place on Monday afternoon, Jan 1st at the Marshall Funeral Chapel, with interment in the United Church cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. D. H. Easter, assisted by Rev. Dr. Palmer. The pallbearers were three sons, Jack, Tom and Stanley Brooks, and three son's in law, Walter Finch, Roy White and Alex Bennett."

     1. Obituary for Mrs. Wesley W. Brooks. Apr 30 1925 "News of the sudden death of Mrs. Wesley W. Brooks came with severe shock to her friends, when they learned she had passed away Sunday night about 11:20 a.m. She had been ailing somewhat during the past few years but had been in her usual health on Sunday. Besides her husband she leaves five daughters, Mrs. Henry McFadden (Genevieve) of Bracebridge, and Misses Audrey, Hazel, Iola and Velma at home and three sons, Stanley, John and Thomas, also at home. There are also left two sisters, Mrs. Matt. Harrison, of Fraserburg, and Mrs. Hamlet Wolfram , of St. Catherines and 5 brothers, Alex Harper, Toronto; Richard Harper, Bracebridge,; George Harper, Muskoka twp.; William Harper, Whitby and James Harper whose address is unknown.
     Mrs. Books who was formerly Margaret Elizabeth Harper was born in Bracebridge, Oct. 16 1877 daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harper. Her parents were Scottish, the father having been born in Bamfshire and the mother in Kirkwell, Orkney Islands. They came direct to Bracebridge from the old country arrived May 10 1870, and the family home was established here. Mrs. Brooks was married January 5, 1896 and continued to reside in this town.
     The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon to the Methodist Cemetery and was conducted by Rev. J. B. McCormack. The bearers were Messrs. H. McFadden, Gilbert Brooks, Herman Brooks, Bryson Vincent, Wm. Black, and Chris Forth. Among the many beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from the family, the Baptist Choir, and the B.Y. P.U. and sprays from Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Brooks and family, Mr.and Mrs. George Harper and family, Miss Annie and Hamlet Wolfram, Mr. & Mrs. James McFadden, etc."

     1. Mrs McFadden passed away January 20 1991 at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. She is survived by her brother Ian Brooks and stepsisters, Olive McCann and Margaret Gibson. She was predeceased by sisters Audrey Olimer, Hazel Bennett, Iola Finch, Velma White and brothers Stanley Brooks, Jack Brooks and Tom Brooks. A funeral service for Mrs. McFadden was held January 23 at First Baptist Church in Bracebridge. Officiating minister was the Rev. Alan Boyd. Interment will be at Bracebridge United Church Cemetery in the spring. " No newspaper listed
