     1. He wentto the Yukon in 1899 or 1900 and spent 2 years as a miner (the gold rush was just winding down then I think). He was next a clerk for 14 years at the White Pass & Yukon steamship company. This info is on an application form he filled out for a different job within the company with its river division. The form is dated June 7th, 1916. It also another note on it: 'died Dec. 17' which may be 1916 as well. There's a record in the Yukon archives dated in 1918 that would be the probate court dealing with his estate. - from Tom Brydon

     1. Funeral Announcement: PINKERTON - Emily passed away at the Durham Memorial Hospital on Friday January 6th, 1978. Emily Moore in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Pinkerton. Dear mother of Vera (Mrs. G Charter) from Mississauga; Emily (Mrs. S. Zippel) of Owen Sound; Lorraine (Mrs. B. Webber) Grand Valley; Elizabeth (Mrs. E. Shier) of Laurel. Also survived by 22 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Resting at the McCulloch Funeral Home, Duram 2:00 p.m. Saturday where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Ladies Auxilliary of the Durham Legion No. 308 will hold a memorial service on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Temporary entombment Durham Cemetery Chapel.

2. Obituary: DURHAM - Mrs. Frederick Pinkerton, 77, the former Emily Miriam Moore, died Jan. 6, in Durham Memorial Hospital. Born in Liverpool, England, she emigrated to Canada as a war bride in 1919. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and James Moore, and resided in Durham for more than 50 years. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Durham, and belonged to the LAdies Guild, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Durham Royal Canadian Legion. Mrs. Pinkerton is survived by four daughters: Vera, Mrs George Charter, Mississauga; Emily, Mrs. S. Zippel, Owen SOund; Lorraine, Mrs. Benson Webber, Grand Valley and Elizabeth, Mrs. Elmer Shier of Laurel, 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. SHe was predeceased by her husband, Frederick James Pinkerton, and one brother William.

     1. Obituary: John Pinkerton Dies in Hospital - DURHAM - John Pinkerton, aged 79, died Saturday at Westminister hospital, London, Ontario, where he had been a patient for five years. Mr. Pinkerton was a former section foreman for the CNR in the district and was a resident of Durham for several years. Mr. Pinkerton served overseas, in the 147th Battalion in the first world war. His wife, the former Mabel Dunn predeceased him several years ago. Surviving are two sons Allan and Walter of Toronto, two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Gilbert of Guelph and Mrs. Mabel Whitney of Toronto, one brother Fred of Durham. One daughter Mrs. Allan Picken predeased him some years ago. Mr. Pinkerton was a member of the United Church.
