Vera Turner
Vera Vanquilla Turner (nee Ruston) passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Feb. 28, 2005.

Vera was born on the Ruston homestead at Cypress River, Manitoba, Canada, on Jan. 15, 1913. Vera was the second of six children born to Joseph and Vanquilla Ruston. Vera received her education in Cypress River, Manitoba, Canada. She went on to normal school in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and then to secretarial school in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She married George Turner in 1933. They moved to Vancouver in 1943 and resided there until they moved to California in 1954. After George's passing, Vera continued working for the Simi Valley Unified School District until her retirement at age 65. She resided in Simi Valley until her move to Canada in September 2001.

She then resided in Regina, Saskatchewan, until her passing on Feb. 28, 2005. Vera was a very ambitious, caring, generous and trustworthy person who enjoyed a good card game and a laugh. Her favorite hobbies were tending her garden and playing her piano and singing the old songs. She was a tremendous host to many family members and friends. She cared very deeply for her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She will be forever remembered with love and admiration by her entire family, her many friends and acquaintances who had the pleasure of knowing and working with her.
