Gilbert's will was submitted to the probate court in Toronto by Sanderson Pearcy on the 28th day of September 1903. His will was dated 10th of November 1896. In the will he gave $20 to each of his children except Sanderson who got the rest of his estate. Sanderson was the sole executor. In the will it states that Sanderson gets the bulk of the estate in return for his kindness to his mother and himself.

2. At the time of Gilbert's death he lived at number 4 Linden street, Toronto, Ward 2, Ontario.

3. After Gilbert moved to Toroto and for most of his life he lived and worked at 13 - 15 Richmond Street. He had a paint shop at this location. In the 1842 census he appears to have a shop there but lived somewere in St. Patricks ward.

Gilbert & Margaret (Sanderson) had six Children. One was head of Sanderson, Pearcy & Co. (Painters). Became a Methodist in 1840, attended Adalaide Street Church. Born County Down, Ireland, and arrived in Canada around 1820. Was originally Presbyterian.
Believe Margaret Sanderson may have been Gilbert's second wife since John Pearcy, the eldest son is referred to in Sanderson Pearcy's will as his half brother.
Farmed in York County.

Death of Gilbert Pearcy
The death occurred yesterday at his late residence, 4 Linden street, of Mr. Gilbert Pearcy, a well-known citizen of Toronto. Mr. Pearcy had reached the advanced age of 91 years. Deceased was the father of Mr. Sanderson Pearcy head of the Adelaide street wholesale paint firm of Sanderson Pearcy & Co. The funeral will take place on Saturday.

Checked Toronto Census for 1842 and 1891, could not find any reference to known Pearcy's in either St James or St Johns Ward, the census for 1842 was difficult to read as it was a negative copy. However there was a reference to a Frances ? Pearcy, female aged 56 Born in the U.S. as well as a son Horace aged 27 in the 1891 census Microfilm # T-6371. Who are they and where did they come from and what if any is the relation?
